First, the paper documents are scanned and – if necessary – edited with a scan component (e.g. scan client by Kofax) in order to transfer them subsequent to the scanning process to the signature component SecArchive. The signature component then records the protection of integrity by the use of advanced or qualified digital signatures. It is recommended that the employee who is responsible for processing the documents authenticates with his/her certificate or signature card for the service before the start of the scan process in order to guarantee that only authorized individuals have access to the procedure and are allowed to sign. If a signature process on server side is concerned, the user should nevertheless authenticate for the signature server when the process is started.Use of digital signatures for protection of integrity
